Best Practices in the Ongoing Management of Patients with Hemophilia


This curriculum is designed to address knowledge and practice deficits associated with the treatment of patients with hemophilia. The focus is to: 1) Initiate prophylactic replacement therapy early in life as recommended by the National Hemophilia Foundation; 2) Knowledgably guide parents/caregivers in their efforts to remain diligent in support for maintaining regular prophylactic replacement therapy for their adolescent children; 3) Longitudinally apply in their clinical practice National Hemophilia Foundation Transitions in care algorithms to help ensure life-long good health and quality of life outcomes for their patients with hemophilia; 4) Coordinate care services between HTCs/hematologists and primary care to improve delivery of essential medical services to aging patients with hemophilia.

Practitioners in Hemophilia Treatment Centers, Hematologists, Internal Medicine and Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and related medical and social staff who have an interest in the treatment of patients with hemophilia.
