STDs, HIV, and Viral Hepatitis: Screening and Treatment Updates

Millions of people in the United States are infected with HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted diseases, resulting in high personal, societal, and economic costs. Early identification and treatment are essential for preserving health and reducing the risk of transmission.  However, the current literature suggests clinicians do not adequately identify patients at high risk for these infections and are often not aware of the impact of prevention strategies. In this series of activities, expert faculty will discuss current screening recommendations, interventions for prevention, and treatment considerations for patients with or at risk for HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted diseases. They will also provide practical information and strategies for overcoming barriers as well as optimizing patient outcomes.
